ArildM skrev:Why does r/autos hate the Bugatti Veyron so much?Svar:As a car guy, I'm going to go out on a sleep-deprived limb here and say your answer lies somewhere in the following: It has a base price of $1,700,000 The 'Super Sport' version is $2,700,000 The tires, Michelin PAX run-flats, designed just for the Veyron, are $25,000 a set, and can only be removed from the wheels in France, which carries an additional service fee of $70,000; the tires have a service interval (aka need to be replaced every) of 2,500 miles Also, the wheels are roughly $50,000 per set, and are recommended to be changed every 10,000 milesMÃ¥ si meg enig.
All in all, it is an extremely gaudy, heavily overpriced vehicle.
Sure, it is rare, but that doesn't necessarily make it special to everyone.
Think of it like a collectors item. Some people want to showcase something, others want to use it for its worth as much as they can.
For ~$220,000 you could get a Nissan GTR with an Alpha 12 package that pumps out ~1,500 hp and proverbially shits all over the Veyron up until ~210 mph
Thus, spending $2.7 mil is just absurd.
With what you would spend on maintenance every year for the Veyron, you could buy a damn Ferrari.
"But it's a SUPER car!" you say... Ok, I give you that. But, what about this...
You have $2,700,000 to drop on a car, and you like fancy supercars...
You can either have: 1 Bugatti Veyron ...or (all of the following combined)...
1 2009 Aston Martin DBS ($240,000): [1] http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/Sea ... id=1096831
1 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia F1 ($315,000): [2] http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/Sea ... id=1126818
1 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 ($272,445): [3] http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/Sea ... mid=962291
1 2012 Maserati GT-MC ($170,315): [4] http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/Sea ... id=1108497

1 2012 Nissan GT-R Black Edition ($109,995): [6] http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/Sea ... id=1112028
1 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 ($265,830): [7] http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/Sea ... id=1036952
AND still have JUST enough CASH left over to pay cash for this 4 bedroom, 4 bath, 5,096 square foot custom home on an acre lot in Scottsdale: [8] http://greathomesanddestinations.nytime ... E-AZ-85255 (no, seriously, do the fucking math)
So… I digress.
If I had 2.7 mil to blow, I sure as hell wouldn't do it on a Veyron.

Fredriksen tok ut 1 milliard i overskudd 1. kvartal 2011. Kjøpe Veyron for han hadde blitt som å kjøpe en liter melk for oss... Og de andre bilene.. bruksbiler..

Ergo: Argumentet holder ikke.. hehe..
